On September 19, 1827, a struggle broke out over a Mississippi River sandbar. What commenced as a proper duel involving two notable Louisiana people resulted in a skirmish during which Jim Bowie, originally only a supporter about the sidelines, was shot and stabbed just before drawing out a large knife and killing a person named Norris Wright.As a
